A place to gather and share information about the Thomas Willcox and Elizabeth Cole Willcox Family of Ivy Mills, PA. For more information see the Home page link above or contact Deniane Kartchner at Denianek@gmail.com. My husband is a descendant of Thomas and Elizabeth's son James who married Prudence Doyle. Their son John's daughter Prudence married John Christopher Kartchner.

Note: This is a work in progress! I am trying to verify everything before I post, but feel free to send me corrections and/or suggestions. It’s also not a complete history of Ivy Mills or a website for current operations, although I will gladly try to answer any questions and/or lead you to the right information.

I'm currently working on tracing this family back to England through this link:

Thomas and Elizabeth Cole Willcox were my 5th great grandparents. Their 1st son, John is my 4th great grandfather. I know where the Gulf Gravesites are in North Carolina.

    1. John is my 6th great grandfather. Direct Montgomery line. I just discovered this. John's grandson, James migrated to Missouri...where all my grandfathers lived in Wayne County. My grandfather & dad moved to nearby county, Butler County (Poplar Bluff, Mo.). My dad moved us to North Carolina before I was born. I live in Cary, NC and this grave site is only about 35 miles away! I am floored to find this out!

    3. Thomas & Elizabeth Cole are my 6G grandparents. Son John & Rebecca Butler are 5G grandparents. John mined iron and supplied cannonballs for the Revolutionary Army. I visited their graves near Gulf NC last summer. Their son John II & Mary Polly Lea are my 4G grandparents, buried in the Willcox Burying Ground near Rhine GA. John II was a well-known boat builder on the Ocmulgee River in the early 1800s. -- Andy Hall, Tempe AZ

    4. Hi. Today I discovered I'm a 6G of Thomas Wilcox. Thomas marries Elizabeth Cole.

Thomas' 1st child, John Willcox 1, marries Rebecca Butler. They are my 5G grandparents.

John's 3rd child, John Wilcox II marries Mary Lea. They are my 4G grandparents.

John 2nd's 11th child was Mitchell Lee. He married Martha Swain. They are my 3G grandparents.

Mitchell Lee's 12th child, James Lea Willcox married Ann Brown. They are my 2G grandparents.

James' 1st child, Phillip Austin Willcox married Mabel Hendrix. They are my 1G grandparents.

Phillip Austin's 1st child is my mother: Annette Willcox Gordon.

Andy, have you been to the Willcox Burying Ground near Rhine, Ga? Have you ever been to Ivy Hills, PA?

I hope to hear from you. All the best,
      Julie Gordon Johnson

    5. Yes, I visited the Willcox Burying Ground in 2019. Hope to be able to return this year. Have also visited Spring Lake nearby where it's said John II and his sons built pole boats. It's a beautiful primeval place, owned by a descendant of the Brophy family, some of whom are buried at the Burying Ground. Have you been to the Burying Ground? Where do you live? I'm in Arizona.
